History of Homeopathy in Canada

Presented by Christina Barrett, Hom

Hosted by the Ontario Alliance for Homeopathic Advancement & Canadians for Homeopathy

📍
Hosted by the Ontario Alliance for Homeopathic Advancement & Canadians for Homeopathy

What happened to homeopathy in Canada? And why is it making a comeback?
Join us for a rich and thought-provoking exploration into the
historical arc of homeopathy in Canada—a story of growth, marginalization, and resilient re-emergence.

This webinar traces the path of homeopathy from its early introduction in the 19th century—when it was practiced widely and held a respected place in Canadian healthcare—to its suppression and near-erasure in the 20th century, and finally, to the recent resurgence of public and professional interest in integrative, holistic medicine.

Together, we’ll explore:

🔹 How homeopathy was brought to Canada and gained early traction
🔹 The rise of homeopathic hospitals, schools, and public trust
🔹 The shifting tides that led to its decline in the medical mainstream
🔹 The influence of regulation and the eventual recognition by the College of Homeopaths of Ontario
🔹 The current movement toward reclaiming and reintegrating homeopathy into holistic care models today

This is not just a historical overview—it’s a meaningful look at how homeopathy has been shaped by political, cultural, and scientific shifts, and what that means for the future of natural healthcare in Canada.
