Empowering Healthcare Through Homeopathy

Why Homeopathy Matters

Homeopathy offers a safe, evidence-informed approach to healing that works with the body’s natural ability to restore balance. At OAHA, we believe homeopathy has an essential role to play in a modern, patient-centered healthcare system—one that values both scientific insight and holistic care.

Our Mission

At OAHA, our mission is clear: to champion homeopathy as a respected and accessible form of healthcare in Canada. We are dedicated to securing insurance coverage for qualified homeopaths, raising public and professional awareness, and collaborating with health-system stakeholders to integrate homeopathic care into mainstream health services.

Board of Directors

Meet the dedicated leaders guiding OAHA’s mission. Our Board of Directors brings together experienced homeopathic practitioners, educators and advocates committed to promoting safe, professional homeopathic care across Canada. With their combined expertise, we’re advancing the recognition, accessibility and integration of homeopathy into modern healthcare

Why Homeopathy Matters

Homeopathy is a traditional system of medicine that has been trusted worldwide for nearly 230 years. Founded on the principle of “like cures like,” homeopathic medicine works with the body’s own healing intelligence to restore balance and promote lasting health. Using gentle, natural, and highly diluted remedies, homeopathy supports the body’s vital force—the natural energy that maintains wellness on physical, mental, and emotional levels.

A Proven Tradition of Healing

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, homeopathy was widely used as mainstream medicine in many parts of the world. The United States once had more than 100 homeopathic hospitals, while Canada had two—one in Toronto and one in Montréal. From 1869 to 1974, homeopathy in Ontario was regulated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)—a remarkable 105 years of professional recognition.
Today, the profession continues under the College of Homeopaths of Ontario, established in 2015, ensuring that homeopathic care in Ontario meets high standards of training, safety, and ethics.

A Global System of Medicine

Homeopathy remains one of the most widely used systems of medicine in the world—second only to conventional (allopathic) medicine.

  • It is regulated in 22 countries and included in the national health plans of 13.

  • Europe has approximately 65 hospitals offering homeopathic care.

  • In India, there are over 250,000 registered homeopaths and 277 homeopathic hospitals, providing both outpatient and inpatient treatment.

  • Mexico City’s National Homeopathic Hospital, founded in 1893, still operates today and conducts over 35,000 consultations each year, with a reported 90% success rate.

  • Cuba is recognized for using homeopathy on a national scale as part of its public health initiatives.

Scientific research continues to support the benefits of homeopathy, demonstrating its value as a safe, effective, and sustainable healthcare option for a broad range of health concerns.

Homeopathy in Canada Today

In Ontario, homeopathy is a regulated health profession through the College of Homeopaths of Ontario. Across the rest of Canada, qualified practitioners are represented by provincial homeopathic associations that uphold professional standards and education.

At the Ontario Alliance for Homeopathic Advancement (OAHA), we believe that homeopathy plays an essential role in creating a more sustainable and patient-centred healthcare system in Canada. By increasing awareness and advocating for inclusion within group benefit health insurance, OAHA helps Canadians gain greater access to safe, affordable, and natural healthcare options.

Why Choose Homeopathy for Group Benefits

Including homeopathy in group benefit plans supports employee well-being, enhances workplace productivity, and helps create a more sustainable healthcare model in Canada. Here’s why homeopathic coverage makes sense for both employers and employees:

01.

Cost-Effective and Accessible

Homeopathic medicines are affordable and widely available in Canada, making them accessible to people across all income levels. By encouraging the use of cost-effective homeopathic options, employers can help reduce overall prescription drug costs and support more sustainable health spending.

02.

Focus on the Root Cause

Homeopathy addresses the underlying causes of illness rather than just managing symptoms. By supporting the body’s natural healing processes, homeopathic treatment can lead to more lasting improvements in health and well-being.

03.

Reduced Sick Leave and Absenteeism

Studies and real-world outcomes have shown that individuals using homeopathic care often experience improved vitality and fewer recurrent illnesses—helping reduce sick leave and supporting a healthier, more resilient workforce.

04.

Support for Chronic Conditions

Homeopathy can be a valuable complementary approach for chronic conditions, providing symptom relief and improved quality of life. Many Canadians report measurable improvement in long-term health concerns when homeopathic medicine is part of their care plan.

05.

Mental, Emotional and Physical Wellness

Homeopathy recognizes the deep connection between mind, body, and emotions. Its individualized approach makes it especially effective in supporting mental and emotional well-being—important factors in workplace health and stress management.

06.

Regulated and Recognized

Homeopathic medicines sold in Canada are regulated by Health Canada and issued a DIN-HM (Drug Identification Number – Homeopathic Medicine). This ensures product safety, quality, and consumer confidence.

Adding homeopathy to group benefits is a proactive step toward a more holistic and cost-conscious healthcare model—one that empowers Canadians to choose natural, effective, and personalized care options.

Mission and Vision

The Ontario Alliance for Homeopathic Advancement (OAHA) is dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for the inclusion of homeopathic treatments in private health insurance plans throughout Ontario and the rest of the Canadian provinces. Our mission is to promote, support, and represent Registered Homeopaths while advancing access to safe, regulated, and insured homeopathic care through:

Advocacy: Lobbying insurance companies, large corporations, unions, educational institutions, all levels of government, and other key stakeholders to incorporate homeopathic medicine practiced by a homeopath registered in the province of Ontario into their health insurance benefit plans. This includes educating patients and employers to empower them to press for the inclusion of homeopathic medicine within employment benefit programs and health spending accounts, while developing marketing materials and social media strategies that promote the benefits of this inclusion.

Member support: Educational webinars for homeopaths on practice management and professional standards. Topics include marketing, business management, online presence, legal rights & protections, and working with other health care professionals.

Awareness Campaigns:  Educating the public, healthcare professionals, and policymakers about the benefits of homeopathic medicine and promoting it as a beneficial holistic modality for addressing health concerns while minimizing sick leave.

Collaboration: Partnering with advocates of homeopathy at all levels, including like-minded organizations and practitioners, to present a unified voice in support of homeopathic medicine as a recognized healthcare option.

Research and Development: Supporting and promoting research initiatives that demonstrate the efficacy of homeopathic treatments, ensuring our advocacy is backed by evidence through homeopathic research findings.

Outreach and Engagement: Engaging with our members and the broader community to build a strong support base, expand our reach, and amplify our impact.

CHO: Collaborate with the College of Homeopaths of Ontario (CHO) in protecting public safety (when it comes to patients advocating for insurance access for safest homeopathic practice)

Our commitment is to make homeopathic medicine an integral part of our healthcare system. By ensuring that this holistic approach to health and well-being is covered by most private group insurance plans, our goal is to enhance its accessibility for all Ontarians. Whether you are a practitioner or a patient, you are invited to help us make this happen.

Our Goals

Insurance

We actively lobby insurance companies to provide health plan coverage for Registered Homeopaths in Ontario and Homeopathic practitioners across Canada. Insurance coverage benefits both the patient and the practitioner.

Organization

We want to make business software more affordable and accessible to you. We will work to get quantitiy discounts and have a centralized place you can find them.

Marketing

We want to help you learn smart, pinpoint marketing strategies to attract more traffic to your business.

Companies

Homeopathy has much to offer companies: healthier employees are more productive, take less sick days, and make for a more positive working environment. We will present information sessions that provide you with strategies you can present to your local businesses and to the general public regarding the advantages of using homeopathic services for their employees.

Collaboration

Our intention is to propose and encourage collaboration with universities, other healthcare professions (including naturopathic and medical doctors, chiropractors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, osteopaths, psychologists, and sleep specialists), and other healthcare organizations, leading to effective bilateral referral protocols.

Public Awareness

Our goal is to heighten public awareness of the benefits of Homeopathy as a government-regulated medical profession, and the advantages of working with a Registered Homeopath.

Regulatory Requirements

Regulatory requirements can be overwhelming. We want to help you stay on top of such topics as: Competency; Rules and Guidelines; Ethics; and Accountability as they are set out by the College of Homeopaths of Ontario (CHO).

Government

Maintaining our rights to access alternative medical treatment such as homeopathy and homeopathic remedies will always be a priority.
We will lobby all levels of government, and other key stakeholders to incorporate homeopathic medicine practiced by a Registered Homeopath into their health insurance plans.

Reference Library

Knowledge is power. We are dedicated to building a resource library containing relevant and up-to-date homeopathic studies – both free and paid-for – that will be accessible to our members. We are also building a library of professional webinars that can be used for continuing education credits for professional members.
